Yes, I know I haven’t been turning in my best work lately. I’ve been coming in at odd hours, with frost resist potions on my breath and discarded healthstone wrappers littering my floor. I’m not really supposed to talk about it, but its been pretty great. If you can keep a secret, maybe I can let you in on something bigger than you and me:
So after a couple weeks of carefully shepherded attempts (read: wasting half our attempts in any given week on disconnects and retardation wipes) and a careful honing of our strategy (read: learning a completely new strategy after a 3% attempts :D), we finally downed this guy. One of the harder (and hence, more satisfying) kills of the expansion, and some of our best work to date.

Finally, a fight where the balls come to you
We steamrolled Faction Champs using our elite PvE server knowledge of PvP strategy, and progressed to the best fight in the instance. Black and white, balls, female twins and a healthy dose of innuendo? This fight is a comedic goldmine. Nothing my meager photo editing skills can muster could possibly do this fight justice. Still, I thought I would dig into the Blizzard archives and show you what the fight originally was conceived as: a vehicle fight where you ride a ball eating monster!
As someone who loves Ikaruga, this fight was a lot of fun. I’m all for Blizzard “paying tribute to” (aka stealing) mechanics from other games if they result in fights like this.

After one-shotting every single encounter each week on “normal” mode, we finally got down to a marginally challenging fight in the form of the Northrend Beasts hard mode. We called in an animal control expert and he helped us wrestle them into submission:
After that, we steamrolled Jaraxxus (one-shot hard mode, lol). He didn’t even warrant a kill shot. Faction champions remain due to the holiday weekend and the whole “PvP on a PvE server lawl” factor, but check back soon.

Through the Fire and the Frostbombs
After being reminded for the four trillionth time in their WoW careers that standing in fire is not a good idea, we learned that we needed more than raiding skill. Only the power of marriage counseling via firefighting could we be successful:

We killed mother earth with her three tree buddies tonight after a few nights of attempts. Definitely one of the more difficult fights, execution-wise, but satisifying.
In addition to this, our 10-man progression crew knocked out Glory of the Ulduar Raider this weekend and were rewarded with their lovely Mauve protodrakes (or whatever). Congrats to them!
